Yoko Matsui's trip to America to meet Equinox:

Yoko's Patriotism

In the Spring of 2001, we were fortunate to have the opportunity to meet one of our biggest fans, Yoko Matsui. Yoko lives in a town near Tokyo, Japan. She has been corresponding with members of the group for many years now, and is considered a dear friend. She has translated material in this web site into Japanese, and has helped us to communicate with music industry professionals in Japan.

In April, she came to America to meet Equinox in our hometown of Minneapolis, Minnesota. While she was in town, she stayed with Eric Althaus and his wife and kids at their home just outside of the city. Aside from a lot of sight-seeing, Yoko also got the opportunity to meet Jamison Masters one night at a local night club. Unfortunately, Lonnie Melland was unable to attend due to an out of town engagement.

In the absence of Lonnie, Eric had a plan to make the evening more special for Yoko. He decided to call some additional friends that have had previous attachments with the band. Among them were Ray Probst (long-time friend, and one-time bass player), and Jeff Burrell (one-time touring guitarist). We had several drinks and shared many stories. We were very excited to hear all about Yoko's perspective of life in Japan. We even managed to share some private stories about the band with her, as well.

One of the most inspiring things that Yoko shared with us, is that she still hears our songs (Foolish Lies, Breakaway, and Color Of The Time) on the radio numerous times every week.
